Kansas City 17th November 2012 - show 79

Kansas City is home to one of the tallest, largest and fastest roller coasters in the world at the city’s World of Fun amusement park.

Apparently there was a protest outside The Sprint Centre before tonight's show. The Kansas City Star tells us:-

That church from Topeka that preaches the blasphemy of (among other things) rock and roll exercised its freedom of speech across the street from the Sprint Center on Saturday night. But the more spiritual and evangelical expressions of the heart and soul occurred inside the arena, where for more than three hours Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band unleashed a show for the ages. It was one steeped in love, respect, compassion, sorrow, elation, grief and regret and one that rocked, stirred and inflamed the congregation from the floor to the rafters nearly all night...

...There could be no better ending to this evening, which preached a few sermons: that that life survives the deepest of sorrows; that the heart may not forget but it does heal and forgive and discover redemption and salvation; and that, if you’re going to hand-paint signs for public display, better they promote music and love than hatred and intolerance.

Here's a review from a blogger who was pretty happy with his night:-

The beautiful part of attending ANY Bruce Springsteen concert is being able to wake up the next day and say, “That was the best Springsteen show I have ever seen!”  Well, friends—last night’s show in Kansas City WAS the best Springsteen show I have ever seen.

And the set list of that show is here.

I'm not familiar with Kansas City.  According to Wikipedea it's a rhythm and blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller in 1952.

Omaha 15th November 2012 - show 78

The Lied Jungle located in Omaha is the world's largest indoor rain forest.

So our first review says:-

Springsteen knows how to keep an audience enthralled. It was one of the best show's I've seen, even better than his 2008 show here.

The first 'Santa' of the tour gets a mention here

... up came the “Did Santa come to Omaha?” sign and the Santa hat and then suddenly Bruce realized that this was going to be a problem, trying to ho ho ho, and — “Big Man! We need you!”, he cried out.

Clearly this had not been thought about or rehearsed or soundchecked (although Ed Manion had no problem pulling off the horn solo); what hadn’t been worked out was who was going to do Clarence’s lines in the song, which are not trivial, and he hadn’t thought about it once before tonight. It was beautiful and sad... The fact that Bruce hadn’t thought about it until now is beautiful, and it is why I would like to punch anyone who thinks that Bruce needs to cut “Tenth” from the setlist; we are still missing Clarence, it is a very big hole, and it will remain that way for some time yet.

Here's the set list. To celebrate being in Nebraska there are ... a lot of songs from 'Nebraska'

St Paul 12th November 2012 - show 77

St Paul is the capitol of Minnesota although Minneapolis is the State's largest city.

Most Bruce Springsteen shows are great. Some are a little more special than others. Monday night in St. Paul, Minn., from accounts I've gotten from friends who were there, was one of those special nights.  So says Stan Goldstein in his review.

The 'second night' rule is certainly evident again here.  Seven songs in before we get to We Take Care Of Our Own !

There are over 4900 reviews of Wrecking Ball Tour shows on Ticketmaster. Obviously the opinions are hardly unbiased, as most people who go to the shows are already fans. They make great reading anyway and somehow it's very satisfying to have someone else affirm your own feelings.

Anyway a review of today's show goes like this:-

For the second night of St. Paul/Mpls. concert stop Bruce turned it up a notch! The tone for this concert was so different from the Sun show. From Jungle Land, E-street shuffle, downing a beer, Wrecking ball, to the Rising, what a show. He was smiling and running around the stage area like a man half his age. The new horn section was AWESOME. The sax solos did not miss a beat. I have been to 15 Bruce concerts and again I found something new to talk about. He is the ultimate live performer. Thanks for the new memories Bruce and I hope there will be many more to follow. I was spent at the end of the 3 hour show. I can hardly wait for him to return. You bet I will attend as many shows as he is willing to put on.
Favorite moment: Jungle land and Bruce enjoying a cold one
Setlist: Ramrod, Hungry Heart, No Surrender, ??, Night, Something in the NIght, Stolen car, We take Care of our own, Wrecking Ball, Death to my Hometown,Rise -up, E-street Shuffle, Bury my money Down, Devils and Dust, Youngstown, Murder Inc., Candies Room, Shackel and drawn, Waiting on a sunny day, Rising, Badlands, Land of Hope and Dreams, Jungleland, Born to Run, Dancing in the Dark, 10 th Ave freeze out, American land

Here's the set list which you may notice has one or two difference from the one above.
