Bergen 24th July 2012 - show 50

I'm hard pushed to find any interesting facts about Bergen in Norway... but did you know Bergen County is in New Jersey?

With Bergen being one of the few cities on this tour with multiple-night stands, hopes were high that Night 2 would have something new and special to offer, especially for the high number of fans attending both nights. To say that we got a different show would be quite the understatement: no less than one world premiere, four tour premiers (and that's not counting the first full-band version of "This Depression"), and in all 17 songs not played the night before...

a show which did prove, all night, exactly why there is a very good reason to attend more than just one show in one city.

So to the set list.

Long Walk Home would have been a very nice opener for us - one of Mike's favourites. Wouldn't have been disappointed to miss Spirit In The Night.  Its a song I like but not every night !?
The reviews say This Depression was a full band version and much better than the solo version of the night before.
I liked You've Got It on the album although like a lot of people I couldn't really see how it fitted in with the other tracks. Anyway I would have been chuffed to hear it live.
Proud Mary isn't a favourite of mine and Red Headed Woman is one of those songs that I can't decide about. Overall I don't care for it but some of the lyrics make me smile.

Bergen 23rd July 2012 -show 49

Bergen is Norway’s second largest city with 240.000 inhabitants. The city was founded more than 900 years ago.

This  is a nice little post. The reviewer goes through each song and gives a very personal opinion.

I can only find a couple of reviews so I'll fall back on the always reliable Backstreets set list pages.  From this review I see there were some unusual moments in the show - some quotes here :-

Bergen is known to be a rainy city, and tonight was no exception. Following two hours of heavy rain it came as no surprise that "Who'll Stop the Rain" kicked things off. What indeed was a surprise, however, was the arrangement we were offered: just Bruce, at the mic, and Roy, at the piano, delivering a soulful version that felt fresh and fitting for the occasion.

As Bruce gave the usual five-finger sign to start "Death to My Hometown," Max started playing "Badlands," and the song had to be restarted. After the song, Bruce noted that "We've actually got a setlist, but I tend to go away from it, showing mysterious signs to the band members." A really funny moment.

As in Bergen in 2009 when Steve's acoustic guitar did not work during the intro to "The River," this time he played the wrong notes during the first few bars and they had to start all over.

During "Dancing in the Dark," Bruce was pointing at a sign saying, "I want to dance with Max while Bruce is playing drums." What actually happened: Bruce picked a girl to be his dance partner while the girl with the sign ran up to Max's drum kit, got the sticks, and started to pound away.

So the set list is here as usual.  I'm not sure about This Depression myself.  I can imagine this one being  better live than on the CD. There is a You Tube video but the sound is awful. Looks like it could be really good though.

A pretty good setlist for me - nothing there I don't like.
