St Paul 12th November 2012 - show 77

St Paul is the capitol of Minnesota although Minneapolis is the State's largest city.

Most Bruce Springsteen shows are great. Some are a little more special than others. Monday night in St. Paul, Minn., from accounts I've gotten from friends who were there, was one of those special nights.  So says Stan Goldstein in his review. 

The 'second night' rule is certainly evident again here.  Seven songs in before we get to We Take Care Of Our Own !

There are over 4900 reviews of Wrecking Ball Tour shows on Ticketmaster. Obviously the opinions are hardly unbiased, as most people who go to the shows are already fans. They make great reading anyway and somehow it's very satisfying to have someone else affirm your own feelings.

Anyway a review of today's show goes like this:-

For the second night of St. Paul/Mpls. concert stop Bruce turned it up a notch! The tone for this concert was so different from the Sun show. From Jungle Land, E-street shuffle, downing a beer, Wrecking ball, to the Rising, what a show. He was smiling and running around the stage area like a man half his age. The new horn section was AWESOME. The sax solos did not miss a beat. I have been to 15 Bruce concerts and again I found something new to talk about. He is the ultimate live performer. Thanks for the new memories Bruce and I hope there will be many more to follow. I was spent at the end of the 3 hour show. I can hardly wait for him to return. You bet I will attend as many shows as he is willing to put on.

Hartford 25th October 2012 - show 71

In Hartford, you may not, under any circumstances, cross the street walking on your hands!

Stan Goldstein has this to say:- 

Thursday night, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., was one of those magical Springsteen shows where I felt as though it was 1980 again and I was listening to "The River" for the first time...

It's nights like this when Bruce Springsteen makes you feel you're 21 again.

His  full review is a good read.  

The Sunny Day incident must have been a great moment, although I'm not sure whether Bruce enjoyed it too much.

Bruce saw a sign ("Can We Sing with You") off to the side of the stage in the seating area and told them he was going to come up over to them. He tried to climb up into the stands, it was a good way up, but some other rambunctious fans who were trying to get pictures were blocking his way despite his best efforts and efforts of his security team. He then gave up. "Sex crazed old ladies" he yelled out. He then find a child to sing along with him

When he got back to the center stage he said "I had a Tom Jones' moment there!"

Obviously the 'old ladies' didn't take any notice when Bruce warned You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch) a little earlier in the set list!!

This review ends on a high note:- 

While so much more could be said about this performance, even a stenographic record of each moment could not adequately capture the sheer energy and power that blew into the XL Center during this latest, and hopefully far from last, appearance by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street band.

Let's start with Stan Goldstein's review.

Bruce Springsteen pays tribute to Clarence Clemons during "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out" on the mini-stage at the back of the pit at Wednesday night's Izod Center show. -photo by Ron Ring

Here's a quote

So far, on every show on this tour, the final song has been "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out" which has included a powerful, silent tribute to Clarence. Every time Bruce gets to the line "When the change was made uptown and the Big Man joined the band" the band stops playing and Bruce urges the crowd on, for at least 90 seconds to just cheer as loudly as they can.

On Wednesday, Bruce ran to the mini-stage at the back of the floor pit (where he starts his crowd surfing from earlier) and when he got to that line, he stopped and the video screens showed video and pictures of Clarence throughout his E Street career. It was so moving and as Bruce again urged the crowd on (for almost a good two minutes), this time just had so much more meaning with the pictures of Clarence shown.

...one of the shorter shows on the tour, but definitely one of the best, maybe the best so far of the nine shows.
