Anaheim 4th December 2012

Anaheim's name means:  'Home by the river,' from 'ana,' referring to the nearby Santa Ana River, and 'heim,' German for 'home.'

From LA Weekly

The Los Angeles Magazine starts it's review in typical fashion:-

Don’t tell Tony Danza but there’s only one Boss, and last night he brought Anaheim’s Honda Center to its knees. Actually, Bruce Springsteen’s knees are the ones we should be talking about. Despite his 63 years — or maybe because of them — the man delivered an absurdly dynamic live show that gave the crowd precisely what it craved. He crowd-surfed. He played fan-requested B-sides. He danced with a woman who was celebrating her birthday. He told stories about being kicked out of Disneyland in 1985. He picked up a little girl from the audience and carried her around stage on his shoulders. Nobody cherishes their fans more than Bruce Springsteen, and they cherish him.

I've stumbled upon a great blog post here. I mentioned in my last post that I enjoy the personal touch that a blog brings and this writer who was at Anaheim tells us how Bruce has infiltrated her life since she saw him in Los Angeles:-

I saw Bruce in April, in Los Angeles... with some of my dearest friends, and it was a kind of revelation. Some kind of magic happened in the Sports Arena, in that school gym writ large and transformed by one of the few bands that still believe in it.

“Wow. He’s pretty good,” I found myself thinking, all understatement and wonder. The truth was that was the only observation for which my head had room, filled up as it was with words and melody and the Mighty E-Street Band.

It's worth a read if you have a couple of minutes. You'll nod your head in complete understanding at some of the things she says:-

“Born to Run” made its way on to my running playlist- first as a joke, but then so I could scare the neighbors while pelting down the hills behind my house belting, “I want to know if love is wild, babe, I want to know if love is real!” I cradled Nebraska close to my chest as I curled on a ledge overlooking the Grand Canyon and wondered how thin the line was between falling and flying.

everything dies, baby, that’s a fact/ maybe everything that dies, someday comes back
LA Weekly has a few Bruce related pieces. I mention it here only because I like:-

...I resolved to see him this time around, Orange County traffic be damned.

Because the Greatest Rock and Roll Show One Will Ever Experience is worth a little effort, dammit.

And on to the set list. Dare I say it ... yes! - Tom Morello may well be a great guitarist but the solos go on far too long for me.
