Dublin 18th July 2012 - show 47

The name for Dublin in the Irish language is both Dubh Linn and Baile Átha Cliath. While walking around Dublin you’re more likely to see the latter on road signs. The literal meaning of Átha Cliath is "Ford of the Reed Hurdles."

samsonsdiner a blogger from Dublin has a good review. He may be a bit more objective than some of us as he mentions that in some respects Bruce is not among his top five artists ... but not many put on anywhere as near as good a live show.

He goes on to say:-

In conclusion, life might be a bit rubbish right now for many people in the countries Bruce has visited on this tour, but for 3 hours 20 minutes last night, it was anything but. Slightly expensive tickets? Maybe, but if you look at it, it really was great value for money. After all, what a performance we got from this most energetic of 62 year olds! And in my opinion, we now have the perfect E-Street Band, a full horn section (plus the extra backing singers) really makes a difference – in some ways it’s like a composite E-Street/Seeger Sessions Band, never tighter, never more in tune with each other, and with its loyal audience. I haven’t seen that many gigs this year, and many of those I have seen were excellent, but I don’t think many 2012 shows will come close to Wed 18 July in the RDS!

Hmm not sure about this from The Irish Times :-  A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was the envy of every Bruce Springsteen fan when she joined the Boss on stage at the RDS in Dublin... They wangled their way into the pit and to the left of the stage for the start of the concert.

Those people obviously knew what they were doing. I'm surprised that some reviewers don't seem to be aware of the 'Sunny' performance and react as though it's a one off - but then I remember that not everyone goes to multiple shows or follows every set list. For some folks this will be their only show this tour, or even for several tours - can you believe it ?!!

So to the set.  The second night rule applies again.  According to Stan Goldstein Bruce played 16 different songs - OK I know I could have counted them myself - that's one more than Paris night two.
Backstreets alone would have made my night. Rocky Ground came out again. We would've liked to have heard this one. Not sure why Bruce rested it for so long. Oh yeah!- and Jake was in a wheelchair.
